Yes, that's home-built. I know the guy, that is his second car. The first was a McLaren M8D.
Ok, now that that's done, here's my problem: Been driving the Seven GTR to work and such lately, have put quite a few miles on it. No problem... until today. I drove to Chipotle (where I saw an Oppostle, or should be, at least... Had a FR-S with a bunch of stickers on the back window, couldn't see and was late for work), and to work. No big deal.
Once all the management left, I went outside to drive the Seven in the main bay, as I like keeping the dew off of it, and it likes starting a lot more when it's warm. Hopped in, and... nothing. Injectors clicked, pump whirred, lights worked... but no starter.
Not again. I just replaced the old one with one supplied from Bird (Thank you!), and it has been working fine. I had a wire crimp go bad and lose the wire a while ago, but recrimped and double-crimped it. So, while the machine was running, I looked over anything I could think of. No wires loose, I disconnected the starter button and looked at it, nothing. Everything looks right, it just won't start. I had the maintenance guy take a look, and while we did find a 30 amp fuse blown (Not positive which it is without my prints; we re-used an OEM fuse box, and not everything is what it seems), and replaced it with a 25 (all there was in the toolroom). Still nothing. Fuse didn't blow, but it wouldn't start. Checked with a multimeter, the solenoid was acknowledging the starter button, but no juice to the solenoid.
In the end, he took a screwdriver to the terminals for me, and that got me home.
Ok, backstory done. Now for the request... Is there anyone here that's good at wiring, and has assorted wire lying around? I think it's time to redo the harness from scratch. You can hardly tell it was an OEM harness at one point, I'd like to get rid of all the crimps, and clean everything up. On top of that, I am going to weld some conduit along a few strategic points in the Seven, so I can tuck all the wiring, and waterproof everything, so I won't be afraid to drive it in the rain.
I figure I need around 30-40 assorted colors/combinations, and lengths ranging from 3 to 20 feet. While I understand the car is no more than 14 feet long, if that, some colors need to double back, or split and go to multiple points. Others are only a few feet long, like the key-to-start-switch cable.
Anyone in the Ohio area that wants to take a Seven apart? While I'm doing this, I'm going to be highly tempted to have it acid-dipped and powder coated, so it can stop looking like a ratrod. If I have to touch up the back, as I add Dzus brackets, so be it.
Oh well. Looks like I won't be driving it for a while. Blah.
